Tom Walker’s Dam’ Good Night

BRIT’s Breakthrough winner Tom Walker partied in The Dam last night after his sold-out Barrowlands gig. Surprising fans and staff, the singer-songwriter let loose enjoying IRN-BRU cocktails created just for him.
After seeing the drinks were on offer before the gig, Tom said on Twitter: “This is the best thing I’ve ever seen can’t wait to hammer a few of these down after the show tonight ” And he did just that, heading to the Merchant City venue after his show. Trying both drinks, he couldn’t get enough of the Just You And I(IRN-BRU) – the OG Ginger Spritz’ – a nod to Tom’s undying love for Scotland’s most-loved drink with a kicker of Arbikie’s Kirsty’s Gin, sparkling Sauvignon wine, topped with IRN-BRU and served in a complete ginger tinnie with a purple-flowered thistle rose garnish.
His Dam’ Take Me On Tour – a twist on a classic Old Fashioned with Monkey Shoulder blended malt, bitters, a sweet IRN-BRU syrup and the best garnish about – a Tom Walker-esque Polaroid picture of yourself also went down well his Tom who thought the garnish was hilarious.
Owner, Michael Woods said:
“What a Dam’ good night! We joked that we’d leave the light on for him and my team made sure of that. Tom was an utter genetleman spending time with fans and enjoying cocktails with his crew. The OG Ginger Spritz was flying out the door, gin and IRN-BRU works.”
The Polariod garnish was created by The Dam after hearing that singer-songwriter Tom used to be a photo booth operator at weddings. Before making the cocktail, the inventive mixologists will snap your picture on a Polaroid camera, add a beard with a Sharpie and your very own Polaroid photo will be pegged and served on the side.
Both cocktail specials were created to celebrate Walker’s Weegie return to the city with his debut album tour, and you can try the ginger drinks today for £7 each.
The Dam, which recently launched earlier this spring brings a rock and roll vibe to Brunswick Street with their low lit bar, red neon signs and luxe draped curtains setting the mood for late nights and basement gigs downstairs in their underground club. Not only drinks, the kitchen serves up dirty brunch classic egg dishes, homemade pizza and juicy, Insta-worthy burgers and crispy chicken wings to tantalise your tastebuds.
Try the OG Ginger Spritz and Take Me On Tour at the Dam Glasgow, Thursday to Sunday. The venue is open seven days a week from 9am until late.
