Paul Mathieson was found with serious head and facial injuries in Wilson Street, Renfrew, just after 1 am on Sunday, January 14.

He was then rushed to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he remained in a critical condition all week but he sadly died in the early hours of Saturday morning (January 20).

DCI Fergus said that while a number of people on CCTV cameras that night have come forward, there are still some individuals who have yet to contact the police.

He said: “Let us be the judge of how relevant the information is, we are gathering information from a number of sources and one small detail could prove pivotal in piecing together the events of that evening and therefore leading us to trace the person responsible for this young man’s death.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers from the Major Investigations Team, based at Paisley Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0309 of 14 January 2018. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
