Synth-pop pioneers and eighties faves Soft Cell have announced a very brief reunion. The band’s singer Marc Almond announced that they would return with a special ‘one night, one final time’ show in London, closing the curtain on their time as a band. Soft Cell, comprised of Marc Almond and multi-instrumentalist Dave Ball, are perhaps best known for their take on Tainted Love. Making the announcement on the Chris Evan show on BBC Radio 2 this morning, Marc – who has previously said that he would ‘never’ get the band back together – said the band had decided now was the time to finally give the fans what they wanted, ‘Because it’s our 40th year’. He described the event as, ‘A one off. The final thing, [for] one night only’.
