THE iconic Fopp music store on Byres Road is to be saved from closure.

It’s reported a new owner has stepped in to save the shop after HMV revealed it was one of 27 locations across Glasgow to be shut.

According to the press, Doug Putman has vowed to take over the business tomorrow and will keep the shop open.

He said: “I am proud to say we have the most knowledgeable and committed staff, and it gives me great pleasure to see such a well loved and renowned part of Scottish music retail history open for business ready to welcome all of our loyal customers once again”.
