Appeal for information – Gartloch Road / Bargeddie Street, Glasgow
Police are appealing for information after an incident which took place in the north east of Glasgow early on Saturday morning.
Around 6.30 am on Saturday 2 March 2019, a white Audi vehicle deliberately collided with a white Nissan Juke vehicle on Gartloch Road, near to Avenue End Road, causing it to leave the carriageway.
The white Audi, possibly a Q7 model, then drove off in an unknown direction.
Emergency services attended and on arrival officers found a firearm in the Nissan Juke.
A 29 year-old man, the driver of the Nissan Juke, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be treated for his injuries.
He was then arrested and charged with various road traffic offenses and firearms offences. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday 4 March 2019. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Enquiries suggest that the Audi and the Nissan Juke were in the Bargeddie Street area driving erratically and may have travelled to Gartloch Road together between the time of the two incidents.
Inspector Craig Warren, London Police Office, said:
“Our officers have been carrying out enquiries since the road traffic collision and we now believe that the vehicles were driving at speed from Bargeddie Street and into Gartloch Road before colliding in Avenue End Road. We are trying to establish if the firearm recovered from Nissan Juke was connected to this incident”
“This incident appears to be an isolated one, however this does not take away from how serious this is.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen these two vehicles, possibly driving erratically, between Bargeddie Street and Gartloch Road before 6.30 am on Saturday morning.
“Think back, you may have heard or seen something that can help us. We would also ask for anyone with any dash-cam footage that could help us to come forward.
